Dear Members,
The Prime Minister has announced that social clubs and community centres will be allowed to reopen from July 4th, which would include us. The Swindon Makerspace will not operate entirely the same as before lockdown as many restrictions remain in place.
Listed below are the new operating procedures that will be enforced from when we reopen at 12pm of July 4th 2020 and will be in place for the foreseeable future:
-
We will not be officially hosting social evenings, such as Wednesday’s Open Night, Tuesday’s Crafternoons or Electronics Evening.
-
Access to the Space must be booked in advance on the shared spreadsheet. Members must book in advance of their visits, they may book time-slots of up to 8 hours and have no more than 3 future visits in the spreadsheet: CLICK HERE TO BOOK The Space will be divided into multiple zones, which can only be booked by one person at a time:
- Upstairs will be divided into four zones which will be marked out on the floor. The 3D printers will be placed in multiple zones so more than one person can print at once.
- The Downstairs Workshop is divided into Wood and Metal by the plastic curtain which marks those two zones.
- The Laser Room and Spray Booth are separate zones.
-
Guests and children will only be allowed into the Space if they are from the same household as a member. They will be limited to one per member and must remain in the area that you booked.
-
Please wash your hands when arriving at the Space, after moving between areas and before leaving. Masks or simple fabric face coverings are encouraged but not required.
-
Please only use the Chill Room as a thoroughfare to the kitchen and laser room, to retrieve your member box or if you are physically unable to walk up the stairs.
-
Please be considerate of your fellow members when moving around the Space, some areas of the premises become narrow, making it difficult to maintain a recommended distance.
-
We will not be restricting the use of shared materials from the wood store, laser material or 3D printer filaments. Wash your hands with soap & water or hand sanitiser before and after handling these materials.
-
Inductions on tools will still be performed and will need to be arranged with an inductor via Telegram. Certain tools, such as those in the downstairs workshop, will require a level of proximity for inductions. It will be at the inductors discretion on whether these can be performed, and how.
-
Cleaning supplies will be available in each area to wipe down tools and surfaces before and after use, as well as bottles of hand sanitiser. Please leave these supplies in their respective areas. More supplies will be stored in the kitchen. If these are beginning to run out please let us know in the Org chat so that more can be purchased.
-
Bring a mug or reusable cup from home, choose a mug from the shelf (or make one using the mug printer) for hot drinks and store it in your box for your sole use. If you do not want to worry about washing up, please use a disposable paper cup.
-
The cupboards will continue to be stocked with snacks and canned drinks. Wash your hands before and after restocking the fridge.
-
Payments for snacks, laser materials/usage, and other additional payments will remain the same as pre-lockdown procedure, although we ask that members do not attempt to make change out of these boxes to avoid potential infection spread.
-
As per the Membership Guide, if you see someone acting unsafely as per these new guidelines please do not hesitate to bring this up with the member in question. If this does not rectify the situation and you still feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please bring it to the attention of the Directors who will take appropriate action.
-
If you visit the Space and later display symptoms or receive a positive Covid-19 diagnosis please message the directors privately via Telegram or email first and tell us when you last used the Space. The Directors will contact other members who have used the space around the same time and may have been exposed.
Once you have read this, please reply to this email with the following phrase:
“I have read the Swindon Makerspace COVID-19 Guidelines sent on Friday July 3rd. I understand the contents of the Guidelines and agree to abide by them whilst I am in The Swindon Makerspace.”
This will be for our records that the guidelines have been read and understood, as well as followed before we in good conscience can start letting members back into the space. We thank you for your cooperation in advance.
Thank you for your patience and continued support during this difficult time. We will review these guidelines regularly as and when necessary.
If you have any questions regarding these guidelines please do not hesitate to contact us via email or Telegram.
Be excellent to each other.
Sincerely,
The Directors
